Glorious Celebration – Sera Bangali Samman and the Unveiling of the Largest Poetry Book

April 14, 2025, Madhyamgram – On the eve of the Bengali New Year, the Nazrul Centenary Hall in Madhyamgram stood witness to an exceptional literary and cultural event. Organized by the International Literary Coordination Centre (আন্তর্জাতিক সাহিত্য সমন্বয় কেন্দ্র), the program—titled “Special Felicitation Ceremony and Book Launch”—etched a memorable chapter in the history of Bengali literature and culture.

A Mesmerizing Start

The evening commenced with a melodious invocation, setting the tone for a soulful journey. This was followed by an extraordinary duet by two renowned artists—Subhas Singh Roy and Mallar Ghosh. Without the aid of any musical instruments, they created a magical performance that captivated the audience. Notably, Mallar Ghosh played the tabla using only his mouth and hands, leaving the crowd spellbound with his rhythmic artistry. Their unique and soulful rendition left an indelible impression, establishing an emotional resonance from the very beginning.

Honoring the Guests of Eminence

Following the cultural prelude, the official ceremony began with the warm felicitation of distinguished guests. Eminent litterateurs, artists, social workers, and cultural figures from various spheres were honored with floral bouquets, traditional uttariyas (shawls), and commemorative mementos. This welcome segment was deeply emotional, symbolizing the collective reverence for literature and culture.

A Historic Moment: Unveiling the Largest Poetry Book in 2000 Years

One of the key highlights of the evening was the official release of an extraordinary poetry book—recognized as the largest published poetry collection in two thousand years. Released by the International Literary Coordination Centre, the book stands out both in volume and literary depth, marking a monumental achievement in the realm of global literature.

The book launch generated great excitement among the literary enthusiasts present. Many eagerly expressed interest in collecting a copy, considering it a priceless treasure for future generations. Without a doubt, this unveiling became a proud and historic moment in the chronicle of Bengali literature.

Celebrating Womanhood: ‘Today’s Woman Award’

A special segment of the program was dedicated to honoring the power and achievements of women through the “Ajker Nari Samman” (Today’s Woman Award).

Sharmistha Roy Chowdhury, crowned Miss Kolkata Tilottama 2022 and currently the brand ambassador of Bengal Creative Club, received this honor for her contributions in promoting Bengali art and culture on international platforms.
