Featured Artist Interview: Nikoletta Molnar

“I love experimenting with colors. My favorite is yellow — it makes the images vibrant.”

Introduction:
Hungarian artist Nikoletta Molnar brings a refreshing burst of color and emotion to every canvas she touches. A trained drawing teacher who rediscovered her passion later in life, Nikoletta merges her love for nature, vivid colors, and emotional spontaneity to create expressive acrylic artworks. Her paintings often feature macro floral elements, symbolic compositions, and a pop-art flair rooted in joy and peace. With inspiration drawn from everyday life, cultural vibrancy, and the therapeutic process of creating, Nikoletta’s art is an evolving dialogue between color and feeling. In this candid interview with Lifeplus Magazine, she shares her journey, style, and artistic voice.

Q1: Nikoletta, your Instagram showcases a wide range of striking artworks. How would you describe your artistic style in your own words?

Nikoletta Molnar:
First of all, thank you for being curious about my art and introducing it to your readers. I have loved drawing since I was a child. I graduated as a drawing teacher in college, but I am not currently working in this profession. Regardless, the desire to create has resurfaced in my life over and over again. I started taking photos a year ago. During the photo shoot, the shapes and colors really captured me. Two and a half months ago, I decided to try painting. It started off with a bang. Brushwork was difficult at first, but then I became more confident. I feel like I am improving nicely.

Q2: Can you share a bit about your creative journey? When did you first realize art was something you truly wanted to pursue?

Nikoletta Molnar:
The idea is lying on the street, especially in spring. The flowers are opening. At that time, I usually take macro photos of them. The shapes and details grab me the most. I work with acrylic paint, and I choose the colors depending on my mood. So it can happen that a poppy will be green. I don’t necessarily want to be realistic. I love experimenting with colors. My favorite is yellow. It makes the images vibrant. The work process can last for hours or even days.

Q3: What themes or emotions do you try to explore through your artwork? Is there a recurring message you aim to convey?

Nikoletta Molnar:
My main themes are nature and wildlife. But this will continue to expand. The world is beautiful; every living thing is unique. I like to convey the joy of life and harmony through colors. It’s good if a picture arouses interest, but sometimes it’s enough if it’s nice to look at and exudes peace.

Q4: Your use of colors and composition is quite captivating. Can you walk us through your typical creative process — from concept to completion?

Nikoletta Molnar:
My work is quite stressful; painting is a great way to relax for me. People around me like my paintings; I get a lot of encouragement from them. I don’t compare myself to others, because I know there are many very talented artists, but this doesn’t make me lack self-confidence. I try to make unique paintings. And the ideas just pop up — I don’t force them.

Q5: Who or what are your biggest sources of inspiration — whether from life, other artists, or personal experiences?

Nikoletta Molnar:
The paintings of Frida Kahlo and Paul Gauguin are the most inspiring to me. If I had to name an art style, it would be Pop Art. I also love the Mediterranean, Mexican, Indian, and African lifestyle and colors. They are very inspiring to me.

Q6: Are there any particular mediums or techniques that you enjoy working with the most? Why do they appeal to you?

Nikoletta Molnar:
I watch YouTube and TikTok videos. It’s amazing how many talented people share their knowledge on them. I’ve tried a few techniques (splatter, dry brush, sponge technique), but this is dynamically developing for me, as I start to find my own style.

Q7: How do you stay creatively motivated or overcome periods of self-doubt or creative blocks?

Nikoletta Molnar:
I think it’s great that there are so many opportunities — channels like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram — where you can show your own art or you can share what you have to say through your art. I think getting to know new techniques and perspectives helps a lot in my development.

Q8: In today’s digital age, how do you see social media platforms like Instagram influencing or supporting your growth as an artist?

Nikoletta Molnar:
For now, my main goal is to improve my painting technique and experiment. Soon, I would like to have my own website where I can sell my paintings. I have joined art communities on Facebook. Later, I would like to exhibit my paintings. I would like to gradually introduce myself to the community.

Q9: Do you participate in exhibitions, collaborations, or sell your artwork? If yes, how can interested art lovers connect with you beyond Instagram?

Nikoletta Molnar:
At the moment, I’m not exhibiting yet, but I’m part of art communities on Facebook. I plan to create my own website soon to showcase and sell my paintings. Until then, interested people can follow me on Instagram: @nitta830816.

Q10: What message would you like to share with the readers of Lifeplus Magazine — especially those who are aspiring artists themselves?

Nikoletta Molnar:
If creation brings them joy, they will never give up because of the initial difficulties. They can meet many valuable, like-minded people through their hobby. And they can bring joy to other people with their creations.
