Journey Towards Wellness – Dr. Saswati Biswas
“Speak kindly to your inner self Don’t take your demons’ view You are you, and no-one else Will lead the life you do”
Nowadays, many women, after reaching middle age, have lost their sense of self and well being , as they struggle to keep up with the demands and commitments in their lives. I am writing here for those male , w h o a r e continuously ignoring their inner desires, self-happiness, even most of them not have
their own identity also! They spend their whole life for the name and fame of husband and child. This is a great loss of women’s lives and their existence in our society which makes them vulnerable to experiencing challenges with their health, relationship and emotions.
So, when I was trying to find out the causes behind this tradition, I discovered a few downhearted facts responsible for this.
Gender roles have been culturally prescribed through the prehistoric period to more civilized societies. Traditionally, middle class women are typically involved in domestic tasks emphasizing child care. Gradually, there has been a change in the availability of employment to more respectable jobs for them. Thus, large sections of women from all socioeconomic classes are employed outside their home, but unfortunately this neither relieves them from their domestic duties nor does their social position significantly.
In my view, the most deep rooted cause is engulfed within the woman herself. They feel a lack of clarity and sense of balance on who they are or where they want to be, the values and goals that define who we all are. Many of them don’t want to step out of their comfort zone, they are scared to take risks to do something new, stay away to take challenges to walk on a new path of life.
However, still there is hope, there is time. Let’s work together on getting them into a proper alignment. Let’s put their wellness to the forefront and discover their own best version. My words for them – “allow yourself the encouragement and energy to uncover, develop and bloom into the you, forgot you were! “ Together, we will formulate a plan to get mental as well as physical wellness for every woman’s life. I believe that whole and true well being is achieved when you bring a strong synchronization between mind and with your body.
⦁ To make this relationship, try to prioritise a connection to yourself, self- care and recognize it as an essential daily practice for maintaining your good health.
⦁ Challenge your thoughts, emotions, desires – so that, your internal barriers will move and allow yourself to achieve a positive string mind-set.
⦁ Nourish your health in the way it needs, understanding how nutrients, exercises play an important role to build a strong disease-free body.
⦁ Learn to honour yourself first. Make some plans on your hobbies or learn some new passions – all reflect on your values as well as wants and consciously live your own life according to them.
⦁ Last but not least, trained your mind to limit on self –judgement and self-counseling, build your mind as your best friend, so you can make yourself truly as self-dependent, self-sufficient and self- sustained.
At the end..I want to say that
“Never bow down or allow others to fix your crown. Let it shine on its own, see what it has become …”
