M se Maa Weaves Music, Movement and Memory into a Tender Story of Motherhood at the NCPA
Godrej Dance Theatre | September 6, 2026 | 5:00 pm & 7:30 pm
An NCPA Presentation in Collaboration with Story Circus
The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) presents M se Maa, a Hindi musical play that explores memory, motherhood and the moments that shape who we become.
M se Maa follows Manvi, a dancer whose life moves between stages, airports and new destinations. Alongside this fast-moving present is the memory of her younger self in Kanpur, growing up in the company of her mother—her guide, confidante and constant presence.
As memories begin to surface through lullabies, monsoons, laughter, arguments, friendships, journeys and the experience of leaving home, the two versions of Manvi gradually draw closer. What emerges is a tender reflection on growing up, on the shifting bond between a mother and daughter, and on the moments that continue to shape us long after they have passed.
Bringing together theatre, Kathak, contemporary movement, music, storytelling and visual design, M se Maa gives these memories a layered life on stage. Nostalgic without becoming sentimental, the play invites audiences to pause, reconnect with the people and moments they carry with them, and find meaning in the everyday.
Come experience a nostalgic and tender journey filled with a mother’s touch, as M se Maa invites audiences to pause, reconnect and find a little hope.
