In the heart of early 20th-century Bengal, Hemantabala Devi, a reflective and resilient woman, began penning letters to none other than Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. What began as a silent admiration soon evolved into an extraordinary epistolary relationship—one that would stretch over 250 letters and span nearly a decade, becoming a profound chapter in the poet’s final years.

For Tagore, her letters carried spiritual freshness and fearless intellect. For Hemantabala, his replies were more than ink—they were solace, strength, and the voice of a kindred spirit she had never met in person.

This 49-minute documentary, created with sincerity and scholarship, brings that forgotten correspondence to life. Conceptualized by Jayanti Sanyal, Hemantabala’s granddaughter, and produced in collaboration with Cinema for a Cause, the film becomes more than historical documentation—it becomes living memory.
