Interview with author Sougata Pal

Saugata Pal is a high-ranking government officer by profession, though his true passion lies in writing. He has described himself as an “accidental writer.” In our studio, we had the pleasure of hosting this distinguished author from Howrah, Mr. Saugata Pal.

In a heartfelt conversation with Sudip Chakraborty, editor of LifePlus Magazine, Saugata shared his journey of becoming a writer. He spoke about his unstoppable love for writing, which led to the creation of his novel Jara Raat Jage (Those Who Stay Awake).

This story begins during World War I in faraway Britain and culminates in modern-day Siliguri, a peaceful town in India. The novel spans nearly a century, weaving together tales of war, patriotism, crime, and serial killings, connecting two different times, places, nations, and people.

The story behind creating this fact-filled thriller is itself thrilling. Let’s hear Saugata’s unique journey in his own words through this video interview.

Notably, Saugata Pal has two more books, Guptadhaner Golpo (The Story of Hidden Treasures) and Rhyme of a Nation, which are set to be released soon.
