Curated under the visionary leadership of Surath Chakraborty, the first edition of Shades of Nudes featured Sarmistha as the model, whose nude portraits were beautifully captured by distinguished painters, sculptors, and photographers. This exhibition was not only appreciated across India but also received significant international acclaim.
Now, as the second edition of Shades of Nudes is set to take place from March 28 to 30, 2025, it promises to push the boundaries of artistic expression even further. Our conversation delved into India’s rich cultural history, the evolving societal perspectives on nudity and sexuality, and the necessity of redefining artistic narratives.
