Short film review – Apna time kab ayega

Whether 5 minutes or 25 minutes, Cinema For A Cause creates films that are characterized by being made for social appeal while maintaining a high degree of professionalism. As a result, every section of the movie is enjoyable with light camera action and acting.

A 22-minute short film directed by Abhishek Ganguly produced by Learning Systems has recently been released on YouTube – Apna Time Kab Ayaga!

At the beginning of the movie, we see the main character Rudra, a young educated youth walking down a busy city street in a despondent manner, while the statistics of the country’s poor unemployment data flash up on the screen.

The stagnant situation of the educated youth’s jobless life, the director aesthetically juxtaposed with the red signal of the road. Beautiful application of cinematic language. A handful of viewers go to the cinema for the story but few cinema intellectuals are satisfied with the appropriate use of cinematic language. ‘Apna Time Kab Ayaga’ is one such film where a strong social appeal has been made through the use of great cinematic language.

Gradually we see the jobless youth Rudra helplessly bewildered by reality and surrender himself to the hypocritical astrologers who nullify the future. Even if there is no help from a friend in a difficult situation, the phone number of astrologers can be found correctly.

The scene where Rudra meets the three women in the mysterious chamber of the fortuneteller Miss Kumudini is wonderfully created. Aditi Banerjee, Anupraya Banerjee Mishra and Arundhati Chowdhury’s melodramatic performances in the roles of the three astrologers go well with the flow of events.

Back to the incident. Miss Kumudini returns with a hefty fee and promises of good times, but the Back to the incident. Rudra’s situation does not change even after paying Miss Kumudini a hefty fee in returns of assurance for a good time in near future. Instead, taking advantage of the weakness in  astrology, Rudra’s friend again sends his acquaintance’s astrologer by the name Tathagata Biswas. The result is the same, he returns with false assurances in exchange for a bunch of money.

Cinema for a Cause has social philosophy in its cinema. As a result, stories sticks to reality. The movie ends at exactly twenty-one minutes and fifty-four seconds, raising an serious question mark on the future of a large number of educated young men and women in the country. A must-watch short film – Apna Time Kab Ayaga, will make you think.
