Filmmaker in Focus: Kiran BV – A Passionate Storyteller from Hyderabad

At Lifeplus Magazine, we take immense pride in spotlighting independent voices in cinema who bring raw passion, creativity, and courage to the screen. This edition, we are thrilled to showcase Kiran BV, a self-taught filmmaker from Hyderabad, Telangana, whose journey into the world of cinema began with the innocence of childhood curiosity and has since blossomed into a purposeful creative pursuit.

A Childhood Lit by the Silver Screen

Kiran’s love for films traces back to his childhood days, spent watching movies with his grandfather. By the age of 12 or 13, he wasn’t just watching films—he was analyzing them. Alongside his friends, Kiran would spend school holidays writing stories and dreaming of cinema. “We failed in exams,” he candidly admits, “but through those failures, we watched more movies—and learned more from the masters of the craft.”

First Steps on a Filmmaking Journey

Kiran’s very first short film was titled Psycho, a two-minute piece that marked the beginning of his experimental approach to storytelling. Rather than confining himself to a single genre, he gravitates toward stories that excite him—particularly thrillers and dramas that allow for emotional depth and intensity.

Balancing Passion with Responsibility

Originally from Bangalore and currently working in an engineering company, Kiran has taken a practical route—balancing a full-time job while slowly and steadily nurturing his filmmaking dreams. “I accepted this life,” he says, “because I need to support my family. But my passion for cinema has never left me. I believe in taking the time to learn and grow.”

Chasing Milestones with Heart

While Kiran humbly states that his biggest milestone is still in the making—a dream project he hopes to bring to life next year—his body of work already reflects his dedication and evolving vision. His latest film, Premium Kaadhal, explores love in the present day, while his recent submission to our festival, Chithiram Pesuthey, touches on powerful emotional ground.

Chithiram Pesuthey tells the story of a young girl who draws a portrait to convey a strong message to her own brother. Deep, heartfelt, and thought-provoking, the film reflects Kiran’s ability to merge emotion with purpose, making it a perfect addition to our festival lineup.

Words to Aspiring Filmmakers

To those starting out, Kiran has a simple yet powerful message:
“You’re already a filmmaker. The first time you thought of a story, created a character, or said ‘Action!’—you became one.”
His words resonate with authenticity and encouragement, especially for those who may not have formal training but carry stories within them waiting to be told.

A Note of Thanks

Kiran also extends heartfelt appreciation to Cinema for a Cause and Lifeplus Magazine for continuing to support emerging talent. “Don’t stop supporting talented filmmakers,” he urges—reminding us that voices like his deserve to be heard, celebrated, and nurtured.

Lifeplus Magazine is proud to screen Chithiram Pesuthey as part of our ongoing commitment to showcase meaningful, independent cinema. Kiran BV represents the very spirit of our platform—authentic voices with a story to tell and the courage to tell it.
