Byakod was honored with the prestigious Central Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2020, a testament to his storytelling brilliance that captures the hearts of young readers. His captivating stories and novels for children have crossed linguistic borders, having been translated into Odia, Hindi, Konkani, Sanskrit, and English, opening doors to imagination for children across cultures.

H. S. Byakod is also a celebrated wildlife photographer and filmmaker, having produced dozens of wildlife documentaries that reflect his deep love for nature and his extraordinary eye for visual detail. His work has received widespread acclaim both nationally and internationally, earning him gold, silver, and bronze medals in wildlife photography competitions held in over 25 countries, including the United States, UK, Brazil, China, Sri Lanka, Australia, Slovenia, Bangladesh, Austria, UAE, and more.
In the recently concluded film festival – Frames for Change, organised by Cinema for a Cause and Lifeplus Magazine, his latest short film “A Little Rice is Enough” was declared Runner-Up, adding yet another feather to his creative cap.
